Explorers Desert to Sea Oman Tour

The city of Sur, famous for its ship building, makes it best for camping and fishing. The city also offers a wide range of activities for nature and sea enthusiasts from turtle watching at Ras Al Hadd, to kite surfing on Masirah Island or visiting the traditional Dhow yard of Sur, where till date Arabia’s ancient style of boat crafting still continues by hand. The Sharqiyah Sands is a must-visit, for their dunes reach as far as the horizon and the area budding with wildlife. Livestock such as camels, horses are still bred by the local Bedouins which allow visitors to witness camel racing and various competitions all year around.

Sur is the place to visit given it’s a town that prides on its traditional heritage where the maze of streets showcase ancient residual dwellings each of which continue to carry a mark of the past on its majestic carved doors and Arabesque windows. Until now, Sur is considered as Oman’s prime trading ports, the peaceful and tranquil coastal town is the capital of A’Sharqiya.

Places we recommend to visit in A’Sharqiya are:

    1. Masirah Island: a bird watcher’s paradise this place is a hatching site for a plethora of migrating sea turtles.
    2. Bidiyah: A cluster of villages at the edge of the Sharqiyah Sands this place is home to the local Bedouins hence the perfect site to witness traditional camel and horse races. Bidiyah is a widely popular location for dune-bashing, desert-crossing and camping.
    3. Al Saleel National Park: The national park consists of three basic geographical types; the first being alluvial plain with a wide area of acacia and gum Arabic trees; second is the valleys that split the mountains and; third the broad hills of the said mountains. Arabian gazelle’s Arabian wolves, red fox, wild cats and Egyptian eagles can be found along with a wide variety of turtles and birds.
    4. Sur Dhow Yard: Sur’s Dhow Yard is the place to witness craftsman build dhows the traditional method, the only surviving dhow-building yard in Oman
